Dee Mathes
Dee Mathes is a C.O.D.A. (Child of Deaf Adults) and has been signing all of her life. Her first language is American Sign Language. Now the director of Deaf Ministry at First Baptist Lavaca, her love of music is shown when the beauty and visual grace of ASL is used.
Worship is shared through song and sign for both the hearing and Deaf. Seeing the words to songs as they are signed leads the audience to "feel" the music as never before. Without knowing the signs themselves, there is no mistaking the beauty, grace and the message that is being given.
Nothing touches a person's soul like music, and the music and signs of ASL touches each person with a special message of love, goodness, and the grace
of God's message to all.
Special effects along with ASL is used whenever possible and the combination is a service of praise that becomes special event of worship for everyone.
The visual signs of worship, is an awe inspiring event. Bringing your favorite songs to life through American Sign Language as well as a full voice over so both hearing and deaf can enjoy and worship together.
People with no clue what deafness or sign language is like will come to understand something about it while enjoying the musical performance.
