Judges & Rules



1. A judge must excuse him/herself from judging ANY entry where his/her church is a participant or where there is a participant from his/her local church. A judge MUST excuse himself/herself from judging ANY entry in a category where a participant is a relative of the judge.

2. The judges will be seated at judges’ tables or designated specified areas suitable for best observation.

3. Judges may be Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Hearing.

4. Judges must have an expertise and qualified in ASL or Sign English or both.

5. Judging will be on a point system. They will rate each choir on a scale from "to be announced" in each category.

A. Over all Performance
B. Energy
C. Artistic presentation
D. Technical presentation
E. Music interpretation
F. Execution
G. Rhythmic precision
H. Facial expression I. Originality


6. There will be an official time-keeper.

7. The Judges will be composed of interpreters, music personalities, and Deaf community leaders.

8. Friday competition scoring will be posted Saturday morning.
