Workshop Session Time: 4 Hours
Workshop Title: “Interpreting MUSIC!”
Workshop Description: Interpreting music will provide the participants with a series of tools that will enhance their skills as interpreters of music. The session will cover several key aspects of the translation / interpreting process in order to give the participant a clear and concise understanding of how to move from the lyrics (English) to a more visual / conceptual version of ASL that is visually pleasing and as inspiring as the music being heard.
Workshop Objectives: By teaching several key tools that I have learned as an actor, storyteller, interpreter, and ASL performing artist, I will give the participant some practical and valuable tools that will start them thinking more about the concept and “how to put that concept on their hands.” I will share several techniques that will enhance their overall skills. For those who do the more (English) transliterated song interpretations we will work on how they can be more conceptual while also working on how to step out of that particular comfort zone. We will focus more specifically on those skills that will assist them in taking the stretch towards interpreting the more visually, conceptually, and idiomatic ASL.
Target Audience: Workshop will be directed primarily towards the beginner and intermediate level / or general participant however it is not exclusively so.
Please keep us in your prayers as we work to bring this revival to fruit for His glory.
