Have you ever thought of adopting a child? Have you allowed that thought to gather and then pushed it away due to the fear of the unknown, horror stories you have heard on the news and from friends about adoptions?

Allow me to tell you my story and present some of the facts of adoptions. We will also provide Information and links for for your own research. Are you asking why do this, what is the purpose of all this?

I am a mother of 3 sons, and one who we adopted 12 years ago. Children are waiting all over the world for someone to provide the most basic things in life. But the most important item every child deserves is love!

The Dave Thomas Foundation For Adoption is a wonderful place to start your research into adoption. "Children who don't have families aren't someboy else's responsibility; they're our responsibility. Supporting adoption should be important to all of us." Dave Thomas

It seems so long ago now but really it was only 12 1/2 years ago a phone call from a case worker changed our lives forever. My husband and I were foster parents and this call was like so many others, but the moment we saw this little wonder we knew he was something special. He had been in foster care from the age of 6 weeks and now was six months old. We were to his 3rd foster placement. As we watched him grow he became such a joy to watch, hug and love. We knew that someday he may go back to his parents, and that would be hard for us, but had known from the start this was part of being a foster parent.

Many have asked how in the world could we be foster parents and then watch the children we had care for go back to thier parents. Really it is an easy question to answer. Our goal from the start was to provide a safe haven for these children. To provide a home where they knew they were safe, loved and cared for. Sometimes allowing the natural parent time to pull thier lives together so they could provide the love and nurturing environment for thier children. Sometimes this didn't happen as was the case for the curly headed little boy we had been given to care for.

By the time he was 1 1/2 the state started the termination of parental rights and we knew this little one had to become a part of our lives forever. Today Ronnie is as much a joy as he was the day they placed him in my arms. He has been an honor student from kindergarten, plays the clarinet, takes art lessons, and even keeps his room clean without being asked! I cannot image our family without him, he has made it complete. The twinkle in his eyes, the lopsided grin, his love for his brothers is a treasure chest I could never of imagined and would not trade for all the gold in the world.

Do all adoptions work out with story book endings? Sad to say no they don't. Children are small molds of clay and sometimes this little life has seen such abuse that most cannot begin to image. They are fragile pieces of clay that have been beaten into submission. With love, kindness and a lot of patience, maybe just one more child can be saved.

If you have ever thought of adoption, if you are thinking of adoption, then God Bless you, for you may be the one who.... Helps one child have hope shine from thier eyes again.
